opinion: Your past will always catch your present. Jeff (Mitchum) our hero is a PI with a dark past trying to escape his fate, starting a new life in a small village (in vain)! His terrible mistake is to fall in love with Kathie (Greer) the girlfriend of his former associate With (Douglas) that happens to be a mobster boss. Jeff´s assignment was to trace Kathie, the femme-fatale, responsible for destroying all men around her. Jeff included. He knows that there is a trap, but it´s unable to avoid it. The web prepared by Kathie is embracing him… to the dead. “… You know, maybe I was wrong and luck is like love. You have to go all the way to find it…”;

Still today, Mitchum and Douglas… our anti-heros of the Noir period!
