The Killers (1964)

opinion: There is a story about how Mark Hellinger, the Producer for "The Killers (1946)", wants to have Siegel to direct the original version, but some how the assignment went to Robert Siodmak instead. We are thankful for that. We have two versions and very different from each other, but with the same final goal... a good entertainment! … Continue reading The Killers (1964)

The Magnificent Seven (1960)

opinion:  It could be redeemed and not just another job the real reason why these seven gun-for-hire men decided to defend the poor and terrorised Mexican village. Each one of them seems to have a different reason for accepting the assignment, even if the odds were not so good: seven good-looking Americans against more than thirty nasty dirty Mexicans... It´s a … Continue reading The Magnificent Seven (1960)

Unforgiven (1992)

opinion: The year is 1881 and it tells the narrative of William Munny (Eastwood), the retired inhuman killer that sees an opportunity to share $1.000,00 (around $25.000,00 today) to hunt and kill 2 cowboys that when drunk "cut up the face, the eyes out, the ears off, hell, they even cut the teats" of an young prostitute. The four distinguished figures and former gun-crazy … Continue reading Unforgiven (1992)

Jason Bourne (2016)

opinion: Richard Chamberlain was the first Bourne in a TV adaptation "The Bourne Identity (1988)" before Matt Damon became the new and famous "The Bourne Identity (2002)". Later it continued with "The Bourne Supremacy (2004)" and "The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)" the amazing final chapter for the saga. Everybody was happy and satisfied  🙂 Matt Damon stated in 2007 that he … Continue reading Jason Bourne (2016)

Broken Arrow (1950)

opinion: Cochise was an optimist and a dreamer. Geronimo was a pessimist and a realist; 11 years after "Stagecoach (1939)" Delmer Daves with "Broken Arrow" for the first time in an Western movie, shows in a favourable plot, indians as human souls. It's based on real story, with some additional fiction parts to the complete the plot. After 39's … Continue reading Broken Arrow (1950)

Charley Varrick (1973)

opinion: Charley Varrick, The Last of the Independents! After some Film-Noir from the 40:s I enjoyed a Don Siegel cop movie on this Sunday evening. I like cop movies and I like Don Siegel. Walter Matthau (not Clint this time) and Lalo Schifrin are the other two legs of the movie. Matthau/Charley is our anti-hero, small towns … Continue reading Charley Varrick (1973)

Get Carter (1971)

opinion: It´s raining, it´s wet and it´s grey in Newcastle, the coal mining city! In the local narrow pubs, working class people mixes with ruthless crooks in a ambient full of smoking, lies, double-crossing and drinking...  After watching "Get Carter" it´s difficult to imagine any other movie star then Michael Caine for the role. He is Carter himself, … Continue reading Get Carter (1971)

Inception (2010)

opinion: the matryoshka doll... a dream, within a dream, within a dream, this is Inception presented for you. Be prepared because there is no apparent guideline. If your mind goes away for a moment, you are in troubles. If you don´t know in what dream you are at a specific moment, then mate, you are lost … Continue reading Inception (2010)
